Slowly been laying more track. Took last weekend (8/11-12) off to travel to EuroEast in Penn. for some inspiration. Saw some nice HO modules (Märklin based) and attended a few talks. Overall had mixed feelings, was hoping for a little more.
No pictures today, but some progress. Over last week have put down both approach tracks to Enkenbach, and the first 4 switches. All four switches had the Peco motors installed and wired to the DS64 decoder. Ran bus wire for the track (black and red) and power for the DS64s (blue and black) - this also provides power to throw the switches. Temporarily hooked up the DCS 100 command station and tested the switches - the all worked fine on the first try! Ran a temp hook up for track power and and successfully ran my BR 103 over the newly laid track.
Since things were going so well, grabbed the laptop and the Locobuffer interface and plugged it into the DCS 100 to give Train Controller a spin - and that also worked on the first try! Definitely got the excitement level up.
Also been planing some train consists for when the layout is operational. During my lunch breaks I've been working through my copy of MIBAs Zugbilding (4). This gives lots of examples of trains consists and explains how to read (and gives examples of) the DBs zugbildungsplan. Several of the examples are even trains from 1973-74 running over the routes I'm modeling.
Should be able to lay a little more track today and maybe some photos.
